Today in Technology: Amazon Releases Another Kindle – The ‘DX’ June 12, 2009
So Amazon has released a new, bigger, badder Kindle. This one features a 9 inch screen and will be available next week for the light hearted price of $489 (woah…). John Biggs at TechCrunch had some interesting tidbits in his review – saying that the cons of the device were its weight, which is somewhat burdensome especially if you’re trying to sit and get into a book. The other issue he noted was the auto-rotation being very touchy (turning the device just a little rotates the screen, ugh), something that is difficult to get right and totally annoying if it isn’t easy to control.
Some great pics of the new device and review from CrunchGear here:

As far as the good though, the bigger screen has to be pointed at first – a larger screen means less scrolling and more words per page. It also means more content for newspaper viewing than the previous versions of the device. Biggs goes on to note that this version of the Kindle is not for light and average readers, it’s for hard core readers that want a more efficient device for ripping through books. To keep things brief, here are some pics of the new device – though I’m interested in getting one, the way it’s being described I would still likely opt for the Kindle 2, unless this turns out to be the surperior newspaper reading device.
